Tom Wilsmore (Year 8) proudly represented JJ Cahill Memorial High School last week at the State Snowsports Championships and particularly enjoyed the biathlon. The biathlon is a combination of cross-country skiing and rifle shooting (laser rifles for this championship). It is treated as a race, with competitors skiing through a cross-country trail whose distance is divided into shooting rounds. The shooting rounds are not timed per se, but depending on the competition, missed shots result in extra distance or time being added to the contestant's total. Tom finished 5th overall in his age group (Year 8 and 9).
