Photographic and Digital Media

The study of Photographic and Digital Media gives students the opportunity to use photography, video and digital imaging to communicate messages and information about the world around them.

Learning opportunities in Photographic and Digital Media can include:

  • Black and white photography and the exploration of traditional photographic processes using our darkroom
  • Digital photography and the development of skills in digitally manipulating images
  • Creating short animations
  • Shooting and editing short films and video works
  • Students have opportunities to work individually and as part of a production team. Students also learn about the work of photographers, film-makers, video artists and designers.

Photographic and Digital Media is offered for students in Year 9 and 10 as either a 100 or 200 hour elective. Students in Year 11 and 12 have the opportunity to study Photography, Video and Digital Imaging as a Content Endorsed Course for the HSC.


Career Application: This subject is highly recommended for students with an interest in communication or who aspire to careers in journalism, photography, film and television, advertising, digital imaging or the visual arts.
