Career Guidance

Career Guidance

JJ Cahill MHS supports students career development by facilitating opportunities for them to actively engage with their personal career development journey, which occurs over time. By the time students are ready to graduate, all year groups will have had the opportunity to participate in activities that range from careers education classes, engaging with industry, careers expos and further education providers, to personal contact through mentoring, subject selection and career transition interviews.

The school fully supports students to compliment the school-organsied career related activities by encouraging them to self-access information in the Career Support Google Classroom and exploring resources below that will lead to a more comprehensive and  personalised career development journey that focusses on students taking ownership and direction of their future lives.

Career Development and Education Resources

The following websites have been selected to be the most helpful for students (and their parents/carers) to self-access information and other activities to help them make career decisions.

JobJump is a subscription based resource that students can access:
  1. Go to jobjump.com.au and select "I'm New" in the top right corner. In the "School" box type in "j.j" and the schools full name will appear. Then type "jjc" in the "School Password" box.
  2. Provide your personal email address into the "email address" box and remember that you can access this web site until Year 13 (one year after finishing Year 12) only if you use your personal email not your school one.

Myfuture is another FREE resource (for government school students) used to support students career development:

  1. Students can sign up at myfuture.edu.au using their @education.nsw.gov.au email account.
  2. Once activated, students have the option to change their email address to their personal account by selecting "Account Details" from the drop down menu in the top right corner of the page. This allows students continued access to Myfuture, free of charge, long after they have left school.
