The Year 9 curriculum provides a study of the history of the making of the modern world from 1750 to 1945. It was a period of industrialisation and rapid change in the ways people lived, worked and thought. It was an era of nationalism and imperialism, and the colonisation of Australia was part of the expansion of European power. The period culminated in World War I (1914–1918) and World War II (1939–1945). |

The Post World War Two era was one of enormous social change. Students will examine the reasons for Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War and the social, political and cultural changes that resulted from it. Students will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the experiences of different cultural and social groups in Australia during the 20thcentury and their struggle for recognition and civic rights. Students have an opportunity to learn about some major social and cultural trends of the post-war period and to appreciate the role they have played in shaping the present.
